You've made the right choice. We're thrilled you're joining the Warner Pacific family, and we want to help you start the year off right. To help, we've lined up two days filled with chances to connect with other new students, tools and resources to help make your first weeks and months at Warner Pacific successful and exciting, and a few surprises along the way.

Saturday includes a track for your family and guests, so invite them to join you from the morning's check-in until the family farewell at 7:30 p.m.

Welcome Weekend 2018 - General Schedule

Scan to win! Students, scan your ID card when you enter any session with the scan icon (*), and you'll be entered to win hundreds of dollars worth of prizes that will be drawn at Sunday's dinner. Each scan is another entry into the drawing. You must be present to win! So - attend as many sessions as possible chances to grab Amazon gift cards, iTunes gift cards, and more!

Saturday, August 25

8-10:30 a.m.
Residence Life Check-In and Move-In | Egtvedt Lobby and the Smith Hall Lawn
If you're living on campus this year, come early to check in, unload your belongings, meet your Resident Adviser and roommate, and walk through any final campus resource booths you need to visit to prepare for your semester!

10-11:15 a.m.
Commuter Check-In and Resource Fair | Egtvedt Lobby

Commuting to campus? Come check in for Welcome Weekend, grab a pastry and coffee, and visit the resource tables to prepare for your semester. From ID card photos to info on faith and service requirements, we'll be available to get your questions answered.

Offices & Resources Available Saturday
We'll have a number of offices and resources available for you Saturday morning for any last-minute questions or to finish up any final paperwork, including:

  • Financial Aid
  • Registrar
  • Academic Advising
  • Mail Room (pick up your mailbox key!)
  • Campus Safety

10:30-11:30 a.m.
President's Coffee for Family and Guests | Student Life Center

As students gather information or settle into their rooms, family and guests are welcome to take a break, grab a snack, and meet Warner Pacific's President, Dr. Andrea Cook.

11:30-1 p.m.
Welcome Lunch and Welcome Weekend Kickoff | McGuire Auditorium

It all begins here! Enjoy lunch with other future Knights as well as family and guests while meeting campus leaders. Students, bring your ID card; family and guests eat free.

1-3 p.m.
* Preparing for Success: Resource Sessions | Multiple Locations

Students and guests will have the opportunity to visit support resources across campus and hear from the experts about ways to connect and succeed inside and outside of the classroom. You will learn about academic success, library resources, Campus Safety, policies, dining services, campus activities, career services, and more.

  • Learning Community Groups 1 and 2 will start in Egtvedt 203 - Campus Involvement
  • Learning Community Groups 3 and 4 will start in Schlatter Chapel - Campus Safety, Policies, and Dining
  • Learning Community Group 5, Transfer Groups, and the Spanish translation group will begin in the Library - Academic Success

3:15-5:15 p.m.

Meet your First-Year and Transfer Learning Communities!

Family and Guests: Family Session - Partnership for Student Success | Egtvedt 203 (English) and the Student Life Center (Spanish)
While students are meeting in their Learning Communities, parents and family members will come together to discuss ways to support their students as they begin college. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions of the university president, administrators, and current students.

5:30-6:30 p.m.
WPU Family Dinner with Faculty | A.F. Gray Lawn

Join the entire WPU community for a welcome dinner on the lawn. Bring your ID card; family and guests eat free.

6:30-7:45 p.m.
* Knighting Ceremony & Family Farewell | McGuire Auditorium
Students will be officially inducted into the Warner Pacific University community with the support of family and friends in this one-of-a kind Knight tradition!

8 p.m.
Italian Sodas & Dance Off | AF Gray Lawn
After a full day of connecting to WPU and those around you, have some fun learning new (and old) dances on the lawn and sipping on Italian Sodas from Alumni Relations.

Sunday, August 26

9-10 a.m.
Breakfast | Egtvedt Dining Hall

Join other Knights and kick off the day right with a delicious breakfast. Remember to bring your WPU ID card.

10-11:15 a.m.
* Community Worship | McGuire Auditorium

Learn about the holistic spiritual development that you will experience at Warner Pacific.

11:15-11:45 a.m.
Annual Tree Planting | Mt. Tabor Campus
Every year, WPU's incoming class plants a tree on campus to commemorate the beginning of their university journey. Join in the tradition so you can come back years from now and see how your tree has grown!

11:45 a.m. - 12:50 p.m.
President’s Bar-B-Que | Egtvedt Dining Hall

Hear from President Cook as you eat lunch and meet other students. Once again, don't forget that WPU ID card.

1-2:15 p.m.
* Step Up! Bystander Intervention | McGuire Auditorium

Lean how to look out for other Knights and intervene in critical situations in this interactive session.

2:30-3:30 p.m.
* Learning Community Sessions | Multiple Locations

Students will meet their Learning Communities in their assigned locations.

3:45-4:45 p.m.
* Art as Activism | Library

Celebrate Warner Pacific's diverse community through visual art, performances, and activities. Meet the Multicultural Orgs, and find ways to get involved in exploring culture, participating in advocacy, and cultivating an inclusive campus. Of course ... there will be food!

5-6:15 p.m.
Dinner | Egtvedt Dining Hall

Grab some food before heading to the evening's activities. Don't forget your WPU ID card.

6:30 p.m.
All Hall Residence Life Meeting | Warman Hall Lobby

All students who are living on campus get together to learn the ins and outs of housing and meet the Resident Advisors (RAs). From how laundry works in your hall to watching Netflix for free, you'll learn it all!

Commuter Road Map | Student Life Center
Get to know other commuters who are also starting at WPU and learn the secrets of success (and best spots to park, study, and meet people on campus) over dessert in the Student Life Center!

8:30 p.m.
WPU Outdoor Cinema: Black Panther | Smith Hall Lawn

Grab a blanket (or find one that we provide) and head to the lawn for an evening showing of Black Panther, complete with popcorn and movie snacks.

Join the WPU community as faculty, staff, and students celebrate the beginning of the 2018-2019 academic year.

WPU Block Party - Involvement and Academics Fair | A.F. Gray Lawn
Find ways to get involved on campus! This is the perfect time to connect with faculty about your major, student clubs, leadership teams, and other community organizations. Bring your ID card for dinner.
